Two decades on the ice and ocean. The work is field-led, not desk-led.

Antarctic field operations have anchored my research since 2006. Most expeditions have been aboard the Korean icebreaker RV Araon, with additional deployments aboard partner vessels including the RRS James Clark Ross and the R/V Yuzhmorgeologiya. Operations have spanned hot-water drilling, oceanographic mooring deployment, seismic and hydroacoustic observation networks, instrumented seals, and helicopter-supported onshore work.
